We’re already Socialists….get over it

The reality of America is that we don’t have the stomach for a pure capitalist system.

We believe a person should earn what they’re worth, but not if it means some Wall street exec makes $50 million/year or some college dropout makes $10 million/year in the NFL.

We want to build homes on flood plains and eroding cliffs that we can’t even get insured but we want government assistance when our life savings burns to the ground, floats down river or slides into the ocean.

We believe in personal fiscal responsibility, but we want a mortgage bailout if OUR home goes into foreclosure.

We don’t believe in government handouts but we want unemployment compensation if we get laid off.

We believe the cream will rise to the top but we support “No child left behind” in schools so our little Johnny won’t sink to the bottom.

We want to see our 401K’s growing 15% annually, but if it goes down 5% we demand to know why we weren’t told about the risk.

we want a free market economy…as long as we’re not the guy on the bottom of the ladder.

Face it, people. Socialism is here already and it’s here to stay…but let’s all act like it’s the fault of a guy who isn’t even in office yet, if ever. I support a flat tax but we won’t see it anytime soon…then again 10 years ago I thought I wouldn’t see a black president in my lifetime.

I’m politically homeless

The older I get the more I tire of the two party political system. I consider myself a free thinker. I see good ideas and bad in both the Republican and Democratic parties. I don’t fit cleanly into either one, nor the Libertarian party for that matter. I think it’s pretty ridiculous that people allow themselves to buy into everything their party stands for and summarily reject everything the other parties stand for. Republicans who are sick of the war, high gas prices and the weak economy but still too stubborn to vote Democrat because they’re Pro-Life and don’t want their gun rights taken away. Democrats that may not support a national healthcare plan but don’t want McCain’s amnesty plan for illegal aliens.

My vote for Barack Obama was actually a vote against Hillary Clinton. Overall he is too liberal for me. Why can’t we have a candidate or a party that’s middle of the road? Very few political issues are black and white. Almost everything is actually shades of gray.

  • I’m a proud Military brat (vehemently)
  • I’m Pro-choice (vehemently)
  • I’m Pro death penalty (vehemently)
  • I’m generally anti-union
  • I mostly support gun rights (but no automatics or semi-automatics if there are kits to convert to fully automatic. I insist on background checks for purchasing guns and support closing the loophole that allows you to buy them at gun shows w/o a check.
  • I’m against raising the capital gains tax.
  • I support limited Affirmative Action, with the understanding that it guarantees equal opportunity, not equal result. I used to be against it.
  • I’m against “gay marriage” (but knock yourselves out with the civil union thing)
  • I’m against amnesty for illegal aliens.
  • I’m against the Iraq war, because I don’t think the solution is a military one. Let the Iraqi’s fend for themselves. If they step outside their borders wipe them off the earth.
  • I’m against ‘no child left behind’ – dumbed down the curriculum too much for students that weren’t behind. Some people were meant to fail.
  • I’m against any global warming treaty crap that doesn’t involve China and India. If there is any man-made damage they’re the ones doing it. When I was in school they were telling us another ice age was coming. What happened to that? What makes us we’re any smarter now? The weather people can’t tell us what temperature will be next weekend. You really think they can tell you what it will be like 100 years from now?
  • I think the Patriot Act is too broad. Elliot Spitzer got caught using Patriot Act wire taps. How is him boning some bimbo a national security issue?
  • I’m for stem cell research. How else are we going to cure cancer and the common cold?
  • I support a “flat tax” with very little deductions.
  • I oppose privatizing Social Security.

Who the heck am I supposed to vote for?

Press 1 For English

So I went to the ATM yesterday, right? This is California so I fully expect to see two language choices on the keypad. Well, imagine my surprise when I see there are now FOUR damn choices. I couldn’t even tell you what the other two were but I’m guessing one was Japanese or Korean. Swahili maybe. I can’t take much more of this sh*t.

The (Rev.) Wright Stuff

Rev. Jeremiah Wright. This guy is a piece of work. I do think the media has portrayed him to be worse than he really is. I listened to one of his entire sermons on youtube. When you hear what he has to say IN CONTEXT he comes off as much less controversial than what media would have you believe. I still don’t have much patience for people who perpetuate the victim mentality among blacks. Nevertheless attitudes like that are still far too common in our community.

I don’t think Barack Obama necessarily shares the beliefs Rev. Wright has. He is a politician by profession. I seriously doubt he goes to church for help in formulating his idealogy. My guess is he decided early on in his political career that he needed to join a prominent black church to gain some “street cred” within the black community of Chicago. An Atlanta based politician would likely join Ebenezer Baptist Church, where M.L. King once served, for the same reason. The larger the church the better. It’s the quickest and cheapest way to get your name out there amongst the peeps.

I do think Obama should have seen this coming before his campaign even started. Nothing escapes scrutiny during a run for the White House. You have to be the biggest moron on the the planet to think this story wasn’t getting out. He should have distanced himself from Rev. Wright’s views as soon as he announced his candidacy.

Every time the story goes away Rev. Wright opens his mouth again. I wish he’d just STFU. He’s killing Obama’s chances of winning. If Obama loses either the Democratic primary or the general election 100% of the blame will be placed on Rev. Wright and justifiably so. All he had to do was keep quiet for another 6-8 months and everything would be fine…but NOOOOOOO! He’s got to tell his side of the story…as if anyone really cares. The people giving him air time don’t care about him. They’re just out for some easy headline material. He is certainly that.

There is more than a hint of racism in the way the story is being put out there. People who want to see Obama lose, both McCain and Clinton supporters, are trying (and succeeding) to instill fear in voters. Look what the crazy black man believes. Imagine what he’ll do if he’s elected president. Here’s why I say there is racism involved. Here are a few quotes from Pat Robertson.

“Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It’s no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians.
Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history.”

“The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.”

(talking about apartheid South Africa) “I think ‘one man, one vote,’ just unrestricted democracy, would not be wise. There needs to be some kind of protection for the minority which the white people represent now, a minority, and they need and have a right to demand a protection of their rights.” 3/18/92

(talking about Planned Parenthood) “It is teaching kids to fornicate, teaching people to have adultery, every kind of bestiality, homosexuality, lesbianism-everything that the Bible condemns.”–Pat Robertson, “The 700 Club,” 4/9/91

I can go on for another hour or so. Here’s the thing though. Most of us (myself included) will read those quotes and say “well that’s just Pat Robertson. Nobody pays attention to him anyway”. Well then…how about you replace Pat Robertson’s name with Rev. Jeremiah Wright? Why does Pat Robertson get away with those statements but Wright doesn’t? If Pat Robertson comes out and supports John McCain do you think the media will dig up those quotes and make him renounce each one of those? I think not.

Disclaimer – My vote for Barack Obama is actually a vote against Hillary Clinton. Obama is too liberal for me but I just can’t stand Billary. I can’t vote for McCain because I don’t like his views either. I’m Pro-Choice, against the war in Iraq and against his amnesty plan for illegal aliens. I can’t take another four years of Bush’ism.

Addition to the Kill List below…

Reverend Al Sharpton. He should be killed. Now he’s got his panties all up in a wad because a white female commentator jokingly used the word ‘lynch’ in reference to Tiger Woods. Tiger has known this woman for over ten years and apparently he wasn’t bothered in the least. However Rev. Al once again took it upon himself to be offended for all of Black America. He insists they fire the woman…for one single word. A word that wasn’t even used with any ill intent. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Why are you sooo offended when Tiger himself wasn’t?

Half the reason we still have racism in this country is because of Civil Rights dinosaurs like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson
cry wolf so often that the rest of America tunes out whenever those two show their faces on tv. Why the fuck does Al still have a job after that whole Tawanna Brawley thing? Why does Jesse Jackson still have a job after referring to New York as “Himey Town” back in 1984? You cannot be serious?

We need to get off this “White man keepin us down” victim shit. The Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863. If your black ass is still on the plantation it’s your own damn fault. I got news for you, General Custer…the cavalry is not coming to save you. You need to pull yourself up and take your future into your own hands.

I’m just sayin…

Let me preface by saying I love dogs as much as anyone on the planet and what Michael Vick did is despicable on many levels. He brought this all on himself and I have no sympathy for the guy…….however.

I think someone should explain why Michael Vick is scum of the earth for shooting, drowning, electrocuting and hanging dogs meanwhile John Gotti, who probably shot, drowned, electrocuted and hung even more humans is a national hero amongst many white Americans. Why do we vilify gangster rappers and the inner city drug culture and at the same time romanticize the Mafia?

Yes. You can make the case that mafia guys killing other mafia guys is a win-win for the rest of America but not everyone they killed or harmed was involved in organized crime. John Gotti allegedly chainsawed a guy to death in his basement after he struck and killed Gotti’s grandson in a car accident. Consider all the businesses they shook down until they went bankrupt. Consider the mafia tax that went into New York construction projects.

Vick is going to pay the price for what he’s done. There is no doubt about that. Let’s move the f*ck on. If the American people were 25% as outraged by the near 3,000 soldiers that have died in Iraq as they are about those eight dogs WE’D BE OUT OF THERE ALREADY!

Fuck you, Don Imus!

No. That isn’t a fuck you for calling the Rutgers Women’s basketball team a bunch of “nappy headed ho’s”. I really could not care less about them. This country has taken political correctness to a whole new level now. It won’t be long before people have to take out advertisements in the local paper apologizing for calling themselves a bad word. By the way, did you know one of the entrances to the Rutgers Piscataway campus is on Hoes Lane?

No, my friends. That is a half caf triple shot grande non-fat double whip extra hot cup of Fuck You for breathing new life into the tired old carcasses of Jesse Jackson and the most Reverend Al Sharpton. When is the media going to realize those two ass nuggets don’t speak for the majority of black people any more than Jerry Falwell speaks for the majority of white people? And where the hell is this “black community” I keep hearing about? Is it like one of those tram rides at San Diego Wild Animal park where white folks go to to observe blacks in their native environment? hmmm. I can see it now.

White Mom: Look Johnny! See those black teenage boys over there?
Son: Yes, Mommy
White Mom: They’ve already given up on gettting an education because they already realize no matter what they do they’re going to be held back by “The Man”.
Son: “What man, Mommy”?
White Mom: That would be your father, because he won’t give them jobs when there’s somebody else more qualified.
Son: ohh, but they’re all Green Bay Packers fans like me! They have cheeseheads.
White Mom: haha…no, Johnny. Those are bricks of Gubment cheese in their hands. That’s what they eat since Daddy won’t give them a job.
Son: You always make me cheese sammiches, Mommy. Can I be black too?
White Mom: STFU…Can’t you see Dubbayoo is ready to move on?

The days of racial ambulance chasing must come to an end if we are to move forward as a country. Every time time Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpon show their faces White America collectively throws up it’s hands and groans “ohhh shit, not those two again!”. At that point they turn their interest off like a light switch and discount the situation completely irregardless of the actual merits.  Those two have cried wolf so many times they’re not taken seriously anymore. It’s time for a new breed of Civil Rights Leader in this country. One that will continue to champion the cause in a non violent manner. Most importantly, one will not only speak out when injustices occur but also when they DON’T occur. One that will have the intestinal fortitude to tell Black America the truth and admit that just because things don’t go our way every time doesn’t necessarily mean racism is the reason.  Martin Luther King once said “I have been to the mountaintop”. Jackson and Sharpton have been trying to lead us back up that mountaintop. The problem is the going has gotten so steep they’re both starting to slide back downhill and taking out black America with them. I believe Jesse and Al now cause more harm than good.

Anyone who has heard Bill Cosby speak out on the issues that divide America knows exactly what I’m talking about. Cosby talks about personal accountability and how we need to change the way we present ourselves before whites will change the way they treat us. Here’s something that would just make Cosby’s skin crawl as much as it does mine. It’s from the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN), which Russell Simmons is involved with.

It is important to re-emphasize that our internal discussions with industry leaders are not about censorship. Our discussions are about the corporate social responsibility of the industry to voluntarily show respect to African Americans and other people of color, African American women and to all women in lyrics and images.

HSAN reaffirms, therefore, that there should not be any government regulation or public policy that should ever violate the First Amendment. With freedom of expression, however, comes responsibility. With that said, HSAN is concerned about the growing public outrage concerning the use of the words “bitch,” “ho,” and “nigger.” We recommend that the recording and broadcast industries voluntarily remove/bleep/delete the misogynistic words “bitch” and “ho” and the racially offensive word “nigger.”

Notice they put the onus for cleaning up rap lyrics solely on industry executives (translation – white people). At no point….repeat AT NO POINT do they tell the rappers to clean up lyrics. We need “The Man” to do it for us. Russell, my brotha – how hard would it have been for someone of your industry stature to say “Hey 50, Snoop, DMX…..stop calling women bitches and hoes….K PLZ THNX”. What? They’re not gonna listen to you? Don Imus says ho ONE FREAKING TIME and he loses his job over. YOU had the chance to reduce if not eliminate the word from countless airings and you blew it. You passed the buck. You punked out. I like your clothes but I ain’t buyin shit with a Phat Pharm label until you man up.

So clearly Russell Simmons is not our guy. The problem with Bill Cosby is his age. He is roughly the same age as Sharpton and Jackson. We need a 40′something leader that can carry the torch for a generation or two. I haven’t heard Denzel Washington speak on these issues enough to have an opinion. Chris Rock seems to get it but he’s……well he’s Chris Rock. Who is gonna take him seriously. My best candidate amongst the Hollywood set is D.L. Hughley but i’m not sure that’s the direction we should go.

Speak up, people. Am I on the right track? More importantly….are WE on the right track?
